User permissions for viewing pictures

06 Aug 2008, 16:55

I miss the feature where you can define folders/subfolders where you want users to log in before they can view the pictures in that folder. I guess it's okay that the folder is present in the menu, but if someone tries to view it, the user will be asked for user credentials.

I can see the forum discussion with the topic 'Hidden folders', but the restricted user will not help in this case. Isn't that just for selecting where the user in question can upload pictures??

"hidden folders" is simply for hiding folders from the main menu and effectively excluding folders from the gallery. For example the "mp3" folder, unprocessed folders, or startfolder(display a folder with images at startup that is not included in the menu).

I think we may include some option for having to login to view certain folders. I will however have to be clear about one thing: This method will by no means "add" protection to your image folder. Just because users can not access it through imagevue, does not mean they can not access it through their own resources.

Of course it will be huge step to prevent general access into certain "private" folders, so I think I will simply say: yes, this will be added.
