Languages

06 Aug 2008, 11:14

Is there a way to allow users to view the gallery in a specific language? In other words, make available a list of languages like:

View Gallery in:
- Arabic
- English
- French
- German
etc...

in which the selected options is retreived from the lang folder of XML files ?

Actually it does work like that right now and you can try ?language=arabic or ?language=french, there are list of files in config/lang/ folder in imagevue/.

Perhaps a main control button to select a language ?
Or something similair...

Editing the phtml file and adding a flag and link with desired language isn't to hard either as well IMO.

Perhaps I am missing something here ... You make your gallery available in specific languages through specific links. Below, I have made available our demo gallery in several languages:

www.photo.gallery/soda/?language=dutch
www.photo.gallery/soda/?language=russian
www.photo.gallery/soda/?language=spanish
www.photo.gallery/soda/?language=turkish

This is fine, but imho the topic was if it is somehow possible to embed the language switcher somewhere on the flash screen.

This is something what I would like to have as well.

(This is not on the page from where there is a link to a gallery, because such page could not exist - for example in my case it is really redundant to have an intro html page)

You can create a textpage, with links to the languages which you want to use.

Dont see why would anybody want to switch languages in the middle of enjoying the pics. Normally one would select gallery language before viewing.

I agree with pain, and it certainly wouldn't be difficult to create a language selector page on a splash page.

You could also integrate it into the main menu using the folder "link" feature. Simply create a folder "Change Language" and then make subfolders inside, and set to "use as [link]". Create links like "/?language=french" and "/?language=spanish"
