speed regulation for thumbnail scoller

04 Aug 2008, 12:12

The thumbnail scroller is annoyingly fast atm and I don't seem to be able to find an option in the theme to set the scroll speed for it.

Am I missing it or does it need to be added in a future build ?

thanks in advance

I actually don't mind the speed, but my wife told me one day after playing with it that she found it way to fast and asked me to slow it down... so yea, an option for that would be great!

Hehe the idea behind scroller is the same as menu - nomatter how many thumbs you have when mouse at the left of your screen you see thumbnail#1 and when mouse is at the right you see last thumbnail. So its not actually speed - its just autoscroll.

Yea, I think my wifes issue wasnt moving from one side to the other, it was how fast it reset back when she moved the mouse off the thumbnail slider accidentally.

I could probably add some further "motiondelay", but it's like pain says - Its not really speed - the thumbnailscroller positions itself depending on the horizontal location of the mouse. If the mouse is at far left, your images #1,#2 etc. will display .... If you move your mouse suddenly to far right, it will move to display the last thumbnails in your list.

I think this is heavily related to how many thumbnails you have in your folder. Try a folder with many images vs. a folder with less images, and it will obviously be easier to navigate the one with less images.

I can't do that much with this, but I can add a "delay" constant which sets the delay of how long time it takes for the thumbnailscroller to position itself according to the mouse. I think it's difficult to find a setting that suits all folders and everyone though.

this is my issue as well.
Once you're on the scroller, the moving along isn't that bad but let's say you see a thumb you want to view, well I have found it quite difficult to actually move onto the scroller and click that specific thumb. Usually it starts going like crazy first moving quite a way further first.

hmm, that would in fact be related to the fact that the thumbnailscroller re-positions itself so that the thumbnail for the current image being displayed is located in the middle of the screen. I will look into this - There may be remedies but maybe no cure.
