guide to embedding a font to work with slideshow ?

01 Aug 2008, 14:47

Hello to mjau-mjau and all your cru!

1stly would like to say how much i rock off imagevue - love it 2 bits and think u are legends.
Prob i am having is that i want to use desert doghmk font for the picture names in the slidieshow module, while this works fine by changing the config file on the pc - when i test it on mac it shows up as one of the standard fonts.
I understand it is possible to create a swf file with the font embeded and link this to the config, which i reckon should have the desired effect on the mac - however i dont really get how to do this and would be eternally gratefull if you could giv me a step by step guide.
I would also like to know how i can alter the sitemenu module so that the links i have created adjust themsleves with the browser width and or photo width as i have repositioned them at the bottom of the slideshow and find that they encroach upond the images - i am down with adjusting A.S. in the fla file & all that just need some pointers...
One last thing - imagevue does not seem to load up at all in internet explorer for the mac - wondering if any suggestions on this front.

Many thanks you wonderful peeps
peace to ya bruvas - powa to to da hood - nnNake.

First of all, are we talking about the V2 gallery here? This is the V2 forums, and you are speaking of the "sitemenu" which generally was a term for the V1 gallery. We just finished the equivalent of the V1 sitemenu for V2 in "textpages":

As for embedding custom fonts, we have been looking into this. Unfortunately, it was not as straightforward as we initially hoped. The main imagevue swf file can not use fonts embedded in a loaded swf. I will further investigate how we can use custom fonts loaded dynamically into the gallery, and therefore embedded.

As for your internet explorer issue on mac, it should work - Are you sure you have javascript enabled for your specific browser?

hiya
i am referring to the separate slideshow module as opposed to the galler and the enabled sitemenu config puts a menu on both the imagevue.swf and slideshow.swf modules. So rather than loading the embedded fonts into the imaguevue.swf i want to load them into the slideshow.swf - if it can load the font from an external swf then is it possible to embed the fonts directly into the slideshow.swf module ?

checked the javascript and is enabled - safari & firefox working fine so wonder what problem could be ?

thanks

Unfortunately that is the problem. You can not use the fonts embedded in an external swf in the swf you are loading it into. The font needs to be embedded in the root swf document.

Keep in mind this is the "Imagevue V2 bugs forum" while this topic is related to Imagevue V1.
