So I have a favorites folder setup with several choice images and this is where i send people just entering the site... I would LOVE to have this start at a slideshow (even better would be to have no ability menu at all in this folder, just the auto slideshow starting with a random image)... but if you pick a new folder from the menu, the slideshow is turned off unless returned on by the user...

Thoughts, suggestions?

You want a slideshow to start at the beginning, displaying your "favourites" folder, and preferably no controls and no thumbnails below image ... And then when someone clicks an item in the main menu, it goes to "standard" mode with all controls ... Did I get you correctly?

I have the impressions you are not alone wanting this ...

We could select random pic from all dirs you have and when you click - you see next random one.

Yea, I created a folder called favorites that I personally just dump some of our favorite pictures into, which I like because even though I randomly pick a starting image, i like to know WHICH images are in there if you know what i mean....

So, I marked this folder as hidden and as the starting folder and what I would like to do is have NO controls working for this folder, but the slideshow to be automatic....

So when the user first goes to the site, the are presented with a slideshow of our favorite images until the choose a folder from the menu...

When they choose a folder, they are taken to that folder, the slideshow is turned off and they are given full normal controls.

You know, I put in list some 'slideshowThis' option awhile ago. It could be set per directory so it will be shown in slideshow mode by default.

Been contacted by one girl who made a book about make-up and she have series of photos for it which are displaying girl being progressively "make-upped". They all have same posture on them, same picture dimensions.

So I plan to put them in different folders like "shaping eyes" and display in slideshow by default with excerpts from book in descriptions. That will give animation-like effect.

Nice... yea, i think some folder based options could be used really well.

Yup, I like what you are thinking there... that's the main stuff i want anyway... slide show, controls and thumbnail slider options and whether or not to start on the image or in thumbnail mode!
