I experimented with different backgrounds and colors to make a new style but had some troubles.

I used a transparent png for the background but didn ´t work. The transparent part was white.

Originally I wanted to combine a background with texture and as an overlay a png file for some grafic.
How can I handle this ? Any ideas?

Now it is a whole grafic but filesize is too big.
As well I would like to center some grafic staff independet from background.

You could achieve this by layering your graphics in Flash and exporting to SWF. By doing it this way, you can support multiple layers in one file, and also your PNG transparency files would be kept intact!

Also, this will allow you to mix bitmap graphics(png+jpg etc) with vector graphics(gradients+vector objects etc). Tell me if you have any questions in regards to this ...
