With Imagevue V2, estimated for release next year, you should be able to handle any file management through the admin without having to use FTP .
This also includes basic image handling functions like resize- and rotate. However, you there might be a few restrictions to this in reality:
#1 Many servers have memory-restrictions per site. This means that the scripts that resize images may not be able to handle images larger than a given filesize (On this server, we can not resize jpgs larger than around 2000x2000px).
#2 When uploading full, low-compression JPG images directly from your camera to your server, you will be using alot of diskspace. These images will also take ages to load into browser(sometimes several MB per image).
