GPS EXIF info Integration

23 Apr 2007, 16:46

With the event of mobile phones and SLRs now having integrated GPS units, it would be nice if Imagevuex was able to realise the exif gps info was there and then show a small overview map (or two (zoom to country and zoom to area)) to one side of the main image.

I currently take a normal GPS with me and use software to automatically write the gps info in to the photo exif (using the timestamp from the photo and the timestamp from the gps file) which means all my photos are location stamped. Great for when travelling, you can see exactly where the photo was taken. If Imagevuex was able to read the gps info from the exif I would be exstatic as at the moment I have to manually link to google maps from my Imagevuex gallery. :(

Great software though, by far the best solution I've found!

EDIT: For example of my linking, see my gallery and then go to New Zealand photos, number 15 is currently the only one with the link to google maps. :)

Certainly an interesting suggestion and since we are going to integrate some EXIF support in a new release ...

Sounds promising! Even if there was a little globe icon that came up when gps data was available, and then clicking it launched microsoft live maps with the longitude and latitude from the exif put in to the URL. That would be great. ;)
