Hi Karl

Well - if you can hide it as well, good idea.
But most of "normal users" don ´t find it, if you advice them how to use a hidden folder.
Better would be to show the password protected folder to open it having the password.

I am still wondering how low the knowledge is, how to do basic things in the web by normal office people (even in companies with high levels on computer).
They just can use their CRM or mail accounts! Amazing!

So... make it "simple-user save". Show the folder with the name and tell them, that they need a password to open it.
On the other side - my client is a photographer and has no glue how to use htaccess on folders.

I can't say immediately, but it will be within the forthcoming summer months. We need to finish our new website first.

So it ´s more a private folder for the specific client of my client.
Afterwards the client can preselect his pics and order.
So, this basically means your client will create a folder and password protect it... or were you thinking of somehow hiding the folder from the menu also?
mjau-mjau, my fifty cents...

Should be great for me, if would be settable a menu item named "customer room" (or something) where the customer would click and its redirects to the password dialog box. Therefore, this specific client (or group) would be able to see his own folder and the public ones.

see ya

You mean so that visitor only sees public menu, and then when he/she logs in, the menu would reload and "protected" folders would display also?

can you please make a checkbox where you can set this feature "hide protected folders from public" to active/inactive? because in my case, I won't use this feature and it would be annoying to me, because I don't want to explain to every single user "you just have to login first, to see the hidden restricted folders". I just want the a password field pops up when the user is klicking on a restricted folder. Nothing more :).

I am waiting for this feature as well. For me, it's enough if I (the admin) can set a password for a specific folder. Nothing special. :P

Thank you!

I need this feature too

24 Jun 2009, 12:58

It can be simple for me.

A different password for every secured folder.

Need to show the secured folders, and when click on it, ask for the password.

hope you will do it soon.

thanks

Password Protection

24 Jun 2009, 16:50

I just want to throw my hat in the ring and say that I think Imagevue is the best implementation of a photo gallery that is available today! But it is unfortunate that I can only use it for play, and not for work due to the lack of password protection on the photo galleries.

My needs are simple. I simply need to password protect folders so that I can determine who can view which galleries. Is there an estimated release of the password protection feature?

I would also vote for implementing simple folder protection first as opposed to getting all of the bells and whistles in at once. In other words, give us something we can use now, and build on it.

Password protection will be available with the release of the new admin we are creating - viewtopic.php?t=5226 - Can ´t give you an exact date, but should be later in the summer ...

I agree about basic password protection. For now, I think we will build a basic system where you can set a password for any folder. Admin password will provide global access to all protected folders. Advanced user group passwords, with access levels for imagevue doesn ´t quite make sense yet.

Hi !

I want to create private galleries and make one (or more) master password to access to all the private galleries, and one specific password for each private gallery.

I tried to use the "Users" menu in my administration panel, but I think the users are created here only to manage one specific gallery. This is not I was looking for...

So, how could I configure easily restricted areas in my Imagevue website ?

Thanks

Thanks for the feedback ... You are definitely looking for some passwords solution that we are planning to integrate in a forthcoming release.

USERS in the admin are only for the backend/administration. There are no other solutions for you until we release this, unless you set up server-folder passwords from .htacess.
