Could some please tell where I can make changes to my start page and how I choose which gallery is used on the start page. Been using this template for 7 years and I still can't find what I need on a consistant basis.

Basically there is a single setting for the startpage - Admin -> settings -> startpath.
Once you have pointed the startpath to the folder of your liking, basically that folder acts as your startpage and there are no more startpage-specific settings. Now, this folder can be set up in a multitude of ways: gallery, textpage or filemod (which would be a good choice).
