Thumbnails presentation change in 2.8??

05 Jun 2012, 09:33

When I tried 2.7 the thumbnails was presented in a grid of 5x4 (or it might have been 5x5), but now after upgrading to 2.8 its 8x4 which make it to wide and just screws up the gallery.
I havent been able to find any setting in the admin-section either...how can I get it back to how it used to be?

When you says "screws up the gallery", have you in fact tested it from all screen sizes? We did change things to be more fluide, and now it looks nicer on lots of scree sizes, because it utilizes more of the space. If you want to force a 5x4 grid, there are now new settings for this under settings: horizontalamount and verticalamount. In our opinion though, this is inferior because it is not a responsive design that adapts to screen size.

Optionally, you can change the thumbnails.margin, or change the thumbnails.max_width and thumbnails.max_height.

Thanks! I tried the solution with horizontalamount and verticalamount and it did work out just fine. The reason I wanted this changed was that I have my menu down at all time, it never collapses. And when then visiting the gallery at a little lower resolution the thumbnails end up under the menu, which is not very good.

By the way, I saw that the help-text in Settings/Thumbnails/Thumbnails for "Verticalamount" is saying it is for the horizontally display (proberbly been a copy from the Horizontalamount-help. This is in the 2.8-trial, so maybe it can be fixed in the official release when that will be launched. :)

That is understandable. However, you now loose out on those on large-screen users who may want to see more thumbnails ... This could be solved by setting a bigger thumbnails.margin, instead of locking the amount.

Thanks ;) I have fixed this now.
