Would it be possible to have the ability to position the close button on the upper left of the image as well as the upper right. I display comments on the right and the close button covers them up... and is distracting in auto hide mode.

Sometimes one needs to compromise ... Personally, I don't want to "close" button on the far left of the image, because it seems un-intuitive to move the mouse over to the left to close an image. How about removing the close button entirely, and perhaps adding thumbail-toggle when clicking image? The close button is already available in maincontrols at bottom anyway, int he form of thumbnails-toggle button, navigating from image to thumbnails.

10-4... I agree with you on the intuitiveness... or lack thereof... of having close on the left.

However... the right is the best place to have comments because they wont interfere with the controls at the bottom or the menu on the left. If the close button is on the right it interferes with comments.

I currently have the click on image set to go to thumbs... which works fine... however I have noticed that on the majority of sites a image click advances to the next image.

I am good with keeping things the way they are.

You could workaround this by adding more margin on left of the text, or more margin above it ... Basically that would move the text away from the close button, and give them the opportunity to live in harmony.
