Statcounter instead of Google Analytics

16 Jul 2011, 09:56

Now that Google Analytics is working in the sense that it is registering the visited folders and images inside the imagevue flash module I wonder if this is possible also with Statcounter.
The reason for this is that I'm really missing a function within Analytics that is equivalent to the function of Recent Visitor Activitiy within Statcounter... that is, to track the visitor and see his walk through...

I found a few references in which people did make Statcounter suitable for recording swfaddress paths...
These are the links, but I'm not able to judge if it is sense or nonsense and how much effort it would take to build into imagevue...

I looked through the link, and this certainly may be possible. The only thing though, is that they need to provide some newer API overview so I can add this properly. In the first link, there is some method, but what I don't like is 1) This forum post is from 2007, 2) They are talking about "re-embedding" the statcounter JS file, 3) There is no reference in this example where to add the ID for the specific website.

I checked their website, but could not find any information about an API or javascript- or swf tracking. If you can find some clear updated information, I would be happy to implement it into Imagevue.

Yes, I was also concerned about the things you mentioned... the outdated post and the missing statcounter project id's...
I will try to find some more and recent information.... we'll see...
