Australia & New Zealand - Landscape Photography

30 Nov 2010, 20:01

Good day :D

I've upgraded my website with the new imagevue V2 and I'm loving it.
I will upgrade to the brand new one (just released) soon as all the new features look brillant.

If you want to travel Down Under :

Bon voyage!

Your photos speak for themselves, so no need to say anything else in that department.

One thing I would like to comment on, is your menu. It seems a bit mixed-up or unsorted ... Some links are external, some internal galleries, one with a single photo, one folder with subfolders, and one folder with multiple images. Also, I don't like the relatively big gap you have between your menu items, but that is just my person opinion.

My recommendations:
# Wait for Imagevue X2.5 final later this week, so you get the option to sort folders manually

# I would recommend grouping your photo folders at the top.

# Perhaps re-sort and consolidate your links and info somehow? Right now its a bit hard to understand what is internal links and what is external. Also some items could perhaps go into a folder subsection? Why would "links" open a new page to a links section? (which doesnt work properly btw http://www.smikephotography.com/portfol ... LINKS.html)

Hey Karl :P

Thanks for your message!

I agree with you regarding the menus...I'm still in the process of reorganising them.

That's exactly what I'm doing...looking forward to it!

I will reorganise all the menus / folders later on, as soon as I find the time to do so (and with the new version)!

I don't have any galleries with only one photo in them...what are you referring to?
mjau-mjau wrote: Why would "links" open a new page to a links section? (which doesnt work properly btw http://www.smikephotography.com/portfol ... LINKS.html)
I created another (external) page for my links' section as I've made a flash banner which does not work (as far as I know! ) inside a text file in Imagevuex. The 'links' page is working well here.... :o

Thanks for your time and advice mate!

Mike

PS How do you make the space in the menu smaller?

I guess I was referring to the one with the FLV / Calendar, but ok ... =) ... In X2.5 you could set this page to open the FLV video directly without having a thumbnail (which is a bit unnecessary with a single video file).

I believe this is in admin -> themes -> edit your theme -> menu.mainmenu.menuitem.space

Good day Karl,

Thanks for your answer :)

I guess the new 2.5 version upgrade is not far away now...cannot wait!

One quick question : would it be possible one day to allow for flash to work inside of textpages (I've read quite a few posts on that in the forum)?...
Just wondering!

have a great day mate!

Mike

PS : Keep up the great work!

You can already embed SWF into textpages ...
Code
<img src="filepath.swf" width="200" height="50" />
Just be aware that you are limited to certain compatibility aspects of the SWF embedded, not everything will work!
