Hiding swf thumbs

21 Sep 2010, 13:10

Hi there

I have created folders which begin with swf files which are followed by image files but i would like to know if it is possible to hide the swf icon that gets displayed in the thumbnails? Note i still want the swf to display in the image container, i just want to remove the ugly looking icon from the thumbs

Example of my gallery is at

http://www.vanellensheryn.com/projects/ ... before.swf

Many thanks in advance

Wow, nice customization! Why not post it in our user-galleries?

It seems you already figured out the SWF thumbnails? You can create your own thumbnails, overwriting the generic ones that are created for SWF files.

Sorry for the late reply! We were consumed with the new website -

Hi again

I didn't realize i could do this? So far i've just been deleting the thumbs that correspond to the SWF files but you're saying I can create alternate thumbs with the same file name as long as the have the thumb prefix? What size do I create the thumbs for best results?

Thank you for your comments - its a great product you guys have created - I am really looking forward to the next release (any ideas on when this could be? Please please please build for AS3!

Liquid layout with customizable header and footer would be awesome too! My client really wants to have full screen view but also really wants his logo on the page

Love the new site by the way - awesome design

Sounds to me like you are already doing what I suggest. You can simply create your own thumbnails for SWF files. For example, if you have "animation.swf", you can create a thumbnail tn_animation.jpg that represents this file. This file will normally be created automatically based on the generic graphic, unless you create your own of course. Sie for thumbnails? That is up to you, but a good idea would be to use the same size/format as the other thumbnails in your gallery, or at least this folder? Optionally, if you only have a few files, why not create relatively big thumbnails like 150x100 or 100x150 ... or 100x100 for a standard square size. You can also change the generic graphic that is created for SWF thumbnails. Read more:

Of course AS3.0 would be preferred, but right now I think we need to put some time into new features instead of rebuilding the core. Future unique releases will definitely be AS3.0

Header and footer ... yea good suggestion. I am just trying to figure out how we could realistically add something flexible like this to imagevue that could easily be populated by the gallery owner.
