some suggestions about the iPhone view

09 Sep 2010, 06:25

Synology released the DiskStation Manager 3.0 beta and the added the iPhone support for the photo album.
I think it is very good and smooth for viewing the photo.

Actually, I think it is not very good for viewing the imagevue on iPhone, not very smooth and not too user friendly.

I would be great if imagevue also can have the similar layout for viewing photos.

please feel free to try the location below using iPhone:

That looks very good. But keep in mind IV doesn't display photos only. And it would be optimal for image info to be displayed as well...somehow.

Actually I see they do display the image title when drilling all the way down to the image level. I imaging that can be expanded on. That's very nice. Do you know of any examples of other types of files being display in the same manner?

It would be cool to have some improved iphone-specific gallery fallback option. Obviously flash don't work with iphone, and I dont think we want to view photos on the iphone from the flash interface anyway.

Are you using the latest version of Imagevue? The iphone css version is not that bad, but not a dedicated iphone-version of course ...

Will see what we can do the next few months ...

It looks pretty good, the only issue being that images are not constrained to fit the iPhone screen. A fairly normal sized image (say 600x600 pixels) shows roughly 1/4 to 1/3 of the image within the iPhone "stage".

Otherwise, my real hope for the HTML side is for it to become more SEO friendly. I'd like to see image data become indexable by google.

I've dabbled with using WP as a backend, but in the end I've no real interest in "blogging". So, I still hope for developments on this end.

(apologies for going slightly off topic)

FYI - that behavior is using Lightview. Turned Lightview off and the images fit within the iPhone stage just fine -;)
