How to insert text pages within a gallery IMAGE FOLDER

06 Sep 2010, 05:58

Hello there

Great product, am just getting used to all the features and have been unable to find an answer to this question on the forum...basically the site i am developing requires text description of each folder upon loading the images - ie A text page that displays first at the top of each image folder with the ability to then display the rest of the images in that folder - is this possible?

If not then what is the work around for this? Do I link all menu items to text pages and then have links to their relevant galleries?

Many thanks in advance for your help

I can say there is no specific method for what you are asking for - After all, when you click an image folder, it will load exactly that: images. If you click a textpage, it loads exactly that: a textpage. Now, let's consider some options, although none of them may be perfect for you:

A) Of course, you already have a FOLDER title+description. This text will display ABOVE your thumbnails upon entering the image page.

B) You could set your gallery to start in IMAGE mode instead of thumbnails mode when entering an image folder. This means you could basically decide the start image, and make some appropriate title+description for the rest of the folder with this image.

C) Something closer to what you want, but a bit of a tedious workaround: You could set your folders as textpages. When a visitor clicks a folder, they are taken to a textpage which describes the folder. Then you can have a link in the textpage "View Gallery >" which would take the visitor to the actual gallery. To achieve this, you would have to create hidden folder for your actual images, and link them from the textpage ... Not exactly streamlined, and would require some manual labor.
