Fotomoto

16 Aug 2010, 18:10

I have my imagevue site and wish to use fotomoto within it. I got my widget code from fotomoto but am unsure where to put it into my website files

i have a few other questions also.

- does the fotomoto widget automatically pick up the photos from your site evn if they are being used by flash
- because my images are downsized to 800x600 for obvious reasons on the site is there anyway of using a full size image for what will be the print?

I think you need to wait for the next BIG release ;)
The function will be in it as far as I have read in posts form mjau-mjau and pain.

We are going to do some proper integration between Fotomoto and Imagevue, and I am not 100% familiar with the inner workings yet. I am not sure you can just "sync" your images from your imagevue gallery - I do know that one of the options is to wait until you get the order, and then you would upload the FULL size image to Fotomoto (through your fotomoto account), and there it would be provided to the customer either as digital download, or print (depending on how you want it of course, and how you have set it up).

More information to follow on this ...

Yes. Fotomoto automatically picks up the web images displayed on your site. These are used for display/reference only on the Fotomoto site.

If an image is ordered you will get an email prompting you to upload the original to Fotomoto for print.

Yup, I am presuming this comes from sending parameters to Fotomoto on "checkout". It will load the references picture(s) from your imagevue site of course ...

If you mean it loads the reference pic on "check out" (am I understanding that correctly?), then no.

Each time a page is visited on your site and images is displayed, Fotomoto's script imports each one as a reference image to be stored on their server.

Fotomoto can be instructed to "ignore" certain file paths (not sure if that will work in flash), but otherwise, anytime an image is viewed on the site (by anyone) it is grabbed by the Fotomoto server.

You preset preferences for prices and available items which will apply to all your images.

If you wish to set unique prices or products for one or more photos, you must log onto Fotomoto, look for the photos via the referenced images stored on their site, choose each image one at a time, and use their pricing tools to make the changes for that one image.

Full sized images can be loaded to the Fotomoto servers in advance (by selecting "Upload Original" next to the reference thumb on their site), or you may wait until an order is placed in which you will receive an email prompting you to upload the original(s) for the order.

The only real downside is no bulk upload exists for originals (that I have found). This may be to conserve server space on their end (I don't know????). But that certainly could be an issue for someone selling pics for an event.

Someone orders a set of 150 images from an event? You must upload each original one at a time. (if someone finds a way around this please let us know). Currently, I'm not doing anything like this, so it won't effect me, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Otherwise it looks pretty good. I'm going to order an image or two using the new fine art papers and see how they look.

Correction: I was mistaken about being able to pre-upload originals. Looks like you must wait until a sale is made, then you may only upload the originals for the specific images ordered to the Fotomoto site.

Sorry....My Bad.
