Admin Approval

25 Feb 2010, 16:12

The current situation of user abilities in Imagevuex are :
The user is admin or just users and well thats fine by me but what I would love is a great addition is an option to set an option that actions by a given group or given user need to approved on before displaying to the endusers.

Don't know if this is something you would like to add to Imagevuex ?
It would serve my purpose well ...and i'm sure quite a few members would also like such a feature.

Anyway keep up the good work guys! :)
Still loving the project :D

This question was raised few times before, I think. If you want to use imagevue as a community server it should be probably rewritten with db in mind :/

What you can do right now is pretty simple - make a hidden folder Upload, and add users without admin rights limited to this folder only, later approved images can be moved by admin to appropriate folders.

Pain thanks for your reply.

We are actually doing that exact same thing at the moment.
We ´re just trying to see if we can automate the approval part.
Now the users have to mail me and then I have to move the folder if approved.

Perhaps I should reprhase my question.
Could it be possible to make uploaded folders from certain users automatically hidden? And if further possible that a mail gets send when they do upload something.

if that can be automated ...well the approval system of Imagevue is already there ... seeing as we then only have to change the folder from hidden to visible.

At that point no database functions would be needed to further manage it.

Ofcourse everything is theoretically possible, but one thing I'm not sure about thought - are you asking me if we would be able to hack it quickly or what?

Well, you already can do that with hidden folder scheme, just create as many folders as you want in your hidden /Upload folder and move them into main content/ after approval.

The only thing is unachievable right now is email on upload, which is so far wasn't requested before so I think it's out of the scope of developement.
