I do also get this error message, thanks for sharing solution, don't know if the two files are the same and if it doesn't affect performance or functions of 2.1.5

Ok, thank you for cooperation, this bug appears when admin user is absent. We released a fix, just re-download zip and replace imagevue/admin/templates/layout.phtml

I have a similar issue. I started with x2 20090224 which worked fine once I understood the arcane configuration methodology.

I tried to replace the files by uploading over them with x2.1.4_04082009 and no slideshow appeared at all, just empty space, so I re-uploaded the old x2 20090224 data and it worked again.

I tried today to upload the 2.1.5_25092009 and the same thing happened, empty space. I reuploaded the old x2 20090224 stuff and it works fine.

I checked that all permissions were set to 777 all through, but it won't work.

I am viewing in IE 7. Please help.

Thanks.

This is strange, please provide a link to your gallery and ftp login/password to check it on your site.

Are you sure you uploaded everything from the latest .zip?

I dragged the entire folder over and allowed everything to overwrite. Then I set permissions to 777 and recursive throughout the site. When I did this with either of the newer versions it stopped working, but when I repeated the procedure with the older version it worked fine.
:?: :?: :?:

The site is not fully live yet, but when it is, I want it to be as bug-free as possible.

Also, one element missing in the management directory, it would be nice to be able to rename a file to adjust the sort order.

Looks like you have main menu and startpage disabled and everything is white on white, so i put main menu back but didn't touch any of other settings.

If this is not what you intented, to reset everything to default, just delete imagevue/config/configUser.xml and re-config again.

That's no good. Now there's a big scrolling menu over the slideshow!

It still doesn't explain why later versions of the software don't work. I'm still running 2.0.2 there.

My website designer who is working on my finalized site is running 2.1.4 and he can't get the slideshows to show up in IE7 unless he specifies the slideshow's starting image in the filepath. I don't need to do that with 2.0.2

Sorry, I may not be 100% aware of whats going on here, but do you have a link to the gallery you are using? I dont see why 2.1.4 and 2.1.5 makes any difference ...

We are using 2.1.5 as our demo gallery www.photo.gallery/soda and you dont need to set any starting path there to get it to work.... not in firefox, not in IE7. One reason why that might be the case for you, is if you have set a startpath that does not exist. Then it will not load, unless you set a specific path through the URL.

Wait a minute... take this as an example from my developement guy's test-site:

http://www.jobtasker.com/content/macys- ... ate/macys/

This works in BOTH ff and ie, however in ie (for me anyway) it shows a bunch of thumbnails but does NOT go into the slideshow automatically.

Note that the address is expressly sent to the "view" command, but when the page is addressed without that command even with the same call to go to the gallery,

http://www.jobtasker.com/content/macys- ... square-nyc

nothing visibly shows up at all. If you could just give us an idea what we're missing, it would be very helpful. Since the Flash program has no visible error codes we have no way of knowing what is lacking.

**********************************************

Meanwhile, on the live site I have pages that call the gallery without needing the extra nudge that goes to the first image, but this only works with the older build as discussed above. When I try the newer builds, nothing shows up.

http://smarttinc.com/preview-01.html

I understand that the gallery must always be consistantly addressed the same way every time, and I will get consistant results, but we've been trying for a while and we just cannot get consistant results.

This is costing a fortune in time and effort. Please HELP!!!

Don't worry, help is coming.

As I can see it dies here, when reading configs.

And you say nothing was changed you just uploaded new version? Could you please provide an ftp login to your site?
