Sharp scaled thumbnails

09 Aug 2009, 10:01

I'm not sure how to set up the thumbnails correct that they are still sharp while scaling up to 110.

My main settings are:
thumbnail qualitiy: 100
thumbnail boxwidth: 120
thumbnail boxheight: 90

In orst theme settings are:
thumbnail active_scale: 110

Now when I move the mouse over a thumbnail, it scales up to 110 and isn't sharp as before ...

Is there a possibility to generate sharp thumbnails, show them for example with size 90 % and while moving the mouse over they scale to 110 (but 110 is not 110 but 100 % ...) <- not easy to explain ...

Here's a link: http://orst.ch/gallery/index.php

In our school we use your fantastic gallery as a "Special Gallery". As you can see other 37'000 pictures are saved in a coppermine gallery. As soon as I know a solution in imagevue how to construct a good menu and how to provide all the albums and categories with descriptions I will move all the pictures ...

Thanks and greetings

A better description: I'm looking for something similar as the start_scale option in the thumbnailscroller but for thumbnail or thumbnails generally.

Hmm I believe we're lacking the setting for default scaling of thumbnails outside thumbnails bar :/

Maybe there is a way to setup that "by hand"?

Well, I think if yo saw the effect of not having 100% thumbnails, you would understand why its set like that by default. Thumbnails scaled below or above 100% look blurry and lower quality than the original 100%, and I would say its definitely not worth it. For the thumbnailscroller, by default, we have the compromise of having them at 50% size, because it is more functional as an interactive element. 50% doesnt reduce quality that much, since it is a very proportional value of 100%(removes every other pixel).
