For thumbnails, the default behaviour is to show the tooltip with title & description, and similarly for the image itself (text next to image shows title at least, from memory). This is great when there is actually a title created by the admin, i.e. the title & description are updated manually in the admin GUI. Note that the defaults for title & description for each image are blank, but when you view the tooltip/image, you see the actual filename of the image. This is behaviour is inconsistent compared to description, i.e. if the description is blank, it doesn't appear in the tooltip.
I can see what happens - the title text seems to inherit the filename by default & this appears in the tooltip, but I think the way the title text field should work like this - if you create a title - you'll see it appear in the tooltip/text, but if you leave it blank, I think it should be omitted like how the description field works instead of seeing the filename.
The current situation (if you want title text) kinda forces you to have a title for every image, else you'll see the filename, which looks ugly alongside images with an entered title.
I wonder if the above-mentioned suggested action can be supported for mixed titles/no-titles case?
It would also be ideal if the admin software can read the caption or title from an image and use that if it exists. Some software like Photo Mechanic allows you to enter a title/caption for an image that seems to be embedded in the image along with the exif data.
Thanks
Michael.
