Upload Error:500 in a NEW folder

07 Mar 2009, 13:38

Hello!

I do like your Gallery and I'm sorry I bother you... but I have to finish with my site till midnight, 09 to 10 March...

I use x2.
I've alreday uploaded mp3's (no problem at all), contact form (it does work), text page... but trying to create a new folder (and although I've changed permissions via ftp) and upload photos, I got a: Upload Error: 500.

Trying to create a new content subfolder in the Admin Area, it wasn't possible. So, I created it directly to my server and changed permissions to 777. I copied and changed everything from another folderdata.xml... but now, it was impossible to create thumbnails!

I've cleared the cache.

Still problem with the thumbnails creation, however, the (bigger size) image I've uploaded, it was normally appearing.
So, I tried to upload new images but always got the same error500!!!

Any idea, please?

Well... I found a solution (a stupid one... but it works!)

As default folder "pictures 1" work for my first uploads... and as I've already renamed this folder... all I had to to was re-upload the "pictures 1" from my hard disc to the server... and rename it to a new folder...

Looks like this is something with permissions, unfortunately those multiple file uploads are tricky, maybe it will be easier for you to upload images using ftp?

You can also try to switch swf upload to yui upload in config.

Thank you for your reply!

After my "deadline", I'll probably have the time to check it better.
For the moment, the re-upload + chmod seems to work fine!

I tried to upload my pics via FTP, but although I was able to view the big-size pics, no thumbnails were created (I've tried re-create, create for this folder etc.)

Another problem with permissions, has to do with the theme.xml config. I use the default template but, although I've changed all necessary permissions, it's not possible to change settings in the admin area... So, I had to manually modify bg color, menu settings (for the logo) etc.
No big deal (as I found a quick solution); just fyio.

I believe you should contact your hoster support on this issue, this is probably caused by safe_mode in php, and they could easily resolve that.

It's for sure I've set the safe_mode "off" (on the same server, there's another domain where I use Joomla! and had to set it to "off").

However, my customer decided to change the site's domain name so, we moved everything to the new domain... I had to set the permissions again... and this time it works!!! :D

Forgot to mention that, although I use the "default" template, I've also set permissions 777 to: imagevue/include/theme.xml

Thank you, in any case! I really enjoy your Photo Gallery!!! Great Job!

Phew, glad it's resolved. Those issues can be annoying.
