Since my last post, i have had server problems and my hosting company ixweb have now repaired? but unfortunately for me they restored to an earlier back-up, so i have had to start from scratch. So i have loaded 45000 photo's using simpleviewer http://www.liammac.com/sv2/ which seems to be working so far and i am in the process of uploading using imagevue http://www.liammac.com/lsp2 then i will tinker with control panel etc. So feedback using imagevue coming soon.

Looks like the main menu is taking ages to load ... That may be because the main menu xml data is not cached properly yet, or the server is relatively slow, but certainly a factor would be the amount of folders its handling.

We will eventually be creating a feature for XML caching, that would speed up the gallery drastically.

I have been told my server is not slow as everything else on it runs fast. I look forward to the feature xml caching to speed things up and hopefully i haven't wasted money? How do you cache properly? If it is running slow now with less than 10000 photo's what will it do with 50000?

Hmm, I checked again today, and it seems to be ok. Last time I checked, it didn't seem to load the menu at all. It still takes around 8 seconds to load the menu, but that is not too bad considering the amount of folders you have.

Supposedly, it is not the photos slowing it down, but the folder amount and structure because this is what is loaded into the main menu.

We will certainly be considering any speed improvements, including a blazing fast XML cache method for a future release.
