lightroom not scaling images to fit stage

31 Oct 2008, 08:57

Hi,

I love the lightroom feature for displaying images, but I can't work out how to get it to automatically fit the full-size images to the stage.

Is this possible?

If not, maybe we could get some ImageMagick or GD options for resizing images when we upload them?

It would be great if we could also still include the original full-size version to allow good zooming in the flash version.

Thanks!

When you say "lightroom", I presume you mean "lightview"? Lightview is simply an optional 3rd party javascript we provide. I am not quite sure how you want them to display ...

Not quite sure what you are suggesting regarding resizing images. You want to maintain two copies - A full size, and a resized one? Keep in mind, if you wanna zoom in, the full size image needs to be loaded of course, which will basically remove any reason to have a resized image there in the first place.

Yes I meant the lightview JS.

I would just like an option to resize the image on uploading.

I now think having 2 copies of the image would not be a good idea, so just an option to resize would be best.

I don't need the zoom function but I know some people will.

The problem here, is that unless you run your own dedicated server, commercial servers will only be able to resize images that are less than around 1400x1000 px. That is because you have been provided a maximum memory allocation ...

The only way we may be able to provide a solution for this, is if we provide a small client admin application. It would resize images on local client before uploading to the gallery/server. This is something we are thinking about ...

I use irfanview(free) www.irfanview.com for batch resizing images.
