Is it possible to configure just a password for the protected pages? Instead of using a user AND password.

Yes.

As specified in the Protect page: "* Select either a user OR username and password". Just fill the username/password and leave the "users" section blank:


The benefit of USERS, is that it's easier to manage if you want to assign a single user with access to multiple sections.
