To give the viewer of an image additional information, I use the DESCRIPTION of the image.
In the GALLERY, I use the POPUP/SHOW CAPTION parameter with the AUTOHIDE option.

However, very long descriptions are cut off at the end on smartphones.

However, if you select SHOW CAPTION SUBTITLES, the text is displayed in full (unless it is really very long).

However, the AUTOHIDE option then no longer works on smartphones. (PC is OK)

Is there a solution?

I am aware that captions are cut off in the popup. This applies for all devices, but you might see it only on mobile because of the small screen. This is by design, because there is no "scroll" in the popup view, and if the caption is too long, it will overlap the entire photo and even controls. Therefore, captions get "clamped" after reasonable amount of lines, to allow the image to be seen and clicked and the interface to be used. The "cut off" feature can be disabled with custom CSS, but I'm not sure why you would want to do that.

I'm not sure what you mean by "show caption subtitles". Also, it doesn't make sense "the text is displayed in full unless it is really long", as that's already how the "clamped" feature works. Do you have a link?

Autohide does not work on mobile, regardless of how large the caption is. The point of autohide, is to hide the interface after 3 seconds of mouse inactivity, but mobile does not have a mouse. Instead, the caption is always toggled visible/hidden on TAP, so the user can easily toggle the visibility by simply tapping the screen.

What exactly is it you want to achieve? Autohide does not apply on mobile. Instead, the caption will always toggle visible/hidden on user tap. This has nothing to do with the amount of text in the caption. Keeping the caption "limited" so that the photo can be viewed and controls can be accessed, is an unrelated feature.

Thank you for the explanations. I thought there was a chance to display longer texts on mobile devices or to use the AUTO-HIDE function.
