Displayed images are downsampled

Shortly: Images in the gallery are not displayed in original size when clicked to zoom to original size.
They look slightly downsampled and visibly blurred. Tried to fix it for several hours but can't find responsible setting. I assume that they are purposely downsized to fit to screen dimensions, but actually the screen is big enough to allow them to be shown in original size.
Could someone point me to the solution if there is any? I need the gallery which can present images in pixel-to-pixel precision.

Long story: I have bought X3 Photo Gallery few years ago and placed it on cloud server just to give it a try. It was hobby rather, and the project was suspended after a year of activity. But it still works and pictures are displayed in original size when clicked. Now I need to go back to imagevue gallery for professional purposes. I tried to simply move the gallery from cloud serwer to my private local server to modify it to new tasks, but it didn't work (it was copy and paste process). So I downloaded actual version ox X3 Photo Gallery and placed several pictures to see how they look when compared with the cloud ones and I saw the difference described above. After several hours of deep diving into settings I still can't find a solution. I DO NOT RESIZE IMAGES WHILE DOWNLOADING.

Thank you to anyone who can help :)

That's simply not true. Images will scale down to fit within your screen of course (how else would you view the image?), but will not scale further down. Perhaps your screen is set to a non-100% zoom. Please send me a link, and I will demonstrate for you.

Most likely, your screen has a different pixel resolution than the actual display resolution, thus some confusion. X3 and all websites, will always display the image relative to screen resolution, because that's how it's supposed to work.

Also, please go to the link below from the computer you are testing with, and send me a screenshot:

Thank you for the prompt reply. Photo Gallery is great site, I like very much the concept as well as it's flexibility.
Perhaps your screen is set to a non-100% zoom
I see the point. However, my FHD screen is 100%. Screenshot in the link (not very familiar with this forum, can't paste it here)

Please compare two screenshots of the same picture pop-up. Gallery ver. in the filename.
Cloud server X3_v0.21.4.jpg - this picture is in the gallery located on external server, link Zillertal
https://mega.nz/file/Q4sAibZZ#UWM7a4KWV ... 2ujgh9730U
Local server X3.34.2.jpg - this picture is in the gallery located on local server, access via LAN. So far I can't grant an access from outside, sorry.
https://mega.nz/file/kpEAjIjT#zpASvsquF ... CZeDhKtpkU

Clearly, LAN ver. is visibly smaller. Today I browsed through gallery settings and made several tries but found no solution. I hope that there is one, however
PS: Being in local gallery (LAN) if I right click and "copy picture" and then display it in any picture preview software, it looks OK. It proves that the picture is not resized, but pop-up display feature works... well, not properly in my configuration.

Ok, but what is the actual link to this picture on the website? It's really not useful to compare sizes of images inside screenshots taken from your desktop. How do I know which of the screenshots is correct if I don't know the original image? How do I know what application you are viewing each screenshot from?

The simple approach is to check the image in X3, and I can tell you it's correct size. For instance, if you check the demo, or any other X3 users website in the showcase, you will see that the images are always displayed at original pixel dimensions. This is not really debatable. You don't have your X3 website online yet so I can see a link to the image? You could verify the size of images in the demo or other users links.

Ok, original picture is here:

I use IrfanView on daily basis to preview pictures. Thinking about this problem, which is probably due to my specific setup, I wonder how much influence may the environment have on previewing pictures. I have Asustor NAS server with Apache ver. 2.4.62 and PHP 8.3. Should I change?

No I mean the link to the image in your X3 gallery where it is displaying at wrong size. That is the problem you are having, so that is what we should be diagnosing. What am I supposed to do with screenshots of images from somewhere?

I really can't say anything about your system or Irfanview, because I have no idea about anything on your side. Image size should not be affected by the server software no. I can only diagnose if you can send a link to your image displaying wrongly in X3.

If you don't have this hosted on public, then for starters, can you at least send me the actual original image file, not a screenshot like the above?

Fair enough, I got it clear and plain. I really can't go public with this webserver because of customer contract restrictions, so we're stuck with this problem (or it's better to say - I am stuck). I will try to make some more tests and I'll be back with results. Or... I'll surrender  :frowning2:

Well, the link in my last post pointed to original picture, actually. You can copy it to your PC. Or you can use the link below (wetransfer) which is valid 72 hours.

Ok, got it. This image is exactly 800 x 600 px as I'm sure you are aware, and when viewing this image in the X3 popup, it also displays at exactly those dimensions. See screenshot from Chrome developer tools that show exact measurements of each element in the browser:

This of course I already knew.

Yes, I know that and it confuses me even more... see why.
I quickly installed new Photo Gallery on the public server just to let you compare two instances of the same picture side by side.
Zillertal – this is THE picture in old gallery X3 v0.21.4; picture is pix-to-pix when compared to original, and colors are the same
/http://promax.net.pl/mr/imgx3/places/zillertal/#&gid=1&pid=img-3843/

Zillertal – this is THE picture in new gallery X3.34.2; dimension is the same, but picture is blurred, and the colors are… well, you see
/http://promax.net.pl/mr/imgx3new/galleries/Zillertal/#pid=IMG_3843.JPG/

I hope that this can help you evaluate possible cause of my issue.

And a short addendum: same picture in local (LAN) gallery looks similar to the second one with faded colors

but is also slightly smaller...

Zillertal
This one is also correct of course.

This is also 800 x 600. Looks like the same image and same gallery as the above. Certainly displays correctly.

Well, I'm not sure what you mean LAN gallery, I can only check your links online and this one is also 800 x 600.

That's because the images are DIFFERENT, as you have made them different. This isn't anything X3 has done, or anything X3 can do. I guess it's something about how you have saved the images from your application (Photoshop), perhaps color profile related. You can view the images directly from outside X3, and you can see they are different:

Image 1
http://promax.net.pl/mr/imgx3new/conten ... G_3843.JPG

Image 2
http://promax.net.pl/mr/imgx3/content/2 ... G_3843.JPG

This isn't X3 related. The images looked like that when you added them to X3. Also, X3 definitely does not scale down images in the popup. I can't check your LAN of course, but how can we know it's the exact same image if we can see from the above that you are using different images? Anyway, I can only diagnose this from public links.

Touche, my bad. I don't know how, but mistakenly I downloaded wrong picture to imgx3new gallery. Sorry for wasting your time for finding my mistakes.
Now it is OK in public server, pictures in both galleries look the same. Definitely it is not related to X3 gallery.
Zillertal - this is old gallery
Zillertal - and this is new one
But it is not ok with the gallery in my private server (this one in my LAN). I know, I know, I can't show it to you, but please take for granted that this gallery works fine but everything looks a bit smaller when compared to the galleries on public server  (yes - SMALLER). Gallery title is smaller, thumbnail pictures are smaller and every text is smaller. Surely, I can send you some screens, but this won't help.
My suspicion is that it can be caused by some mechanism (function) of the server itself (Apache?, PHP?). Anything else? Maybe your experience let you shuffle me some questions I can ask my NAS supplier. I would be very grateful, honestly.

Everything has a reason, something I can easily figure out with access, but not without. What version of X3 is it? Perhaps you have some custom CSS that is affecting sizing? How do we know this isn't some different image that mistakingly went through a different resize process somehow? It's impossible for me to tell.

I can't imagine how PHP or Apache can affect the visible size of the image in the viewport.

Ok, thank you for your help so far. I have to check everything once again.

Good, one thing less to check. I am very short on these things.

If not succeeded, I'll think it over how to safely go public.
Have nice day
