I seem to have screwed something up and now captions are showing up in all the galleries on my site. Ideally I'd like to just have captions in galleries that I select, and this used to be the case but it looks like I've changed a setting somewhere and I can't find where it might be.

For instance, this is the captions setting for this gallery:

Looks to me like captions are off, but obviously I've screwed something up. You can see the captions for instance on the pic of the kids at a swimming pool.
What is the best way to have my site setup so that I can enable/disable captions on a per-gallery basis?

Hi Trey. It's a bit unclear. In the link you provided, is there supposed to be captions or not? I can see "inline caption" is empty, while normally it should be set to "preview" (just showing the preview image).

On a related note, you might have edited captions globally from Settings > Page > Gallery > Captions, in which case it works like this:

1. Global settings apply by default.
2. Global settings can be overridden on a per-page basis.

It looks like you might have edit captions from the global settings?

In the gallery I linked I don't want captions. I guess what I'd like is that the default for the site would be that they're off, and then I'd enable them on the few galleries where I do want them.

I went to Settings > Page > Gallery > Captions and set it to this, but I still see captions.

What should I be looking at to get them enabled or disabled? I obviously turned them on at some point, but now I'm not sure how. :clown:

First of all, default settings > page > gallery > caption settings should show "preview" (only), because the preview image should always display. It's really only listed as part of caption items, because it then allows to you decide if title/description/etc should be before or after the preview. These settings are for the GALLERY LAYOUT, where you have preview images, not for the popup after clicking to view an image in full size.

Maybe you mean the captions in the POPUP? They aren't part of the gallery inline captions for the gallery on the page. They are part of the gallery > POPUP > Show caption settings.

If you don't mean popup, this is where I'm getting confused. I am looking at that page, and I see any captions. So right now, it's unclear whats wrong.

Sorry, I meant that the captions show when you click the picture and it goes fullsize. Like so.

But for instance in the gallery linked above, I don't want captions to show when the picture is clicked.

I'll have a look at the settings you mentioned when I get a chance later this evening.

I can't see any captions here in the popup (when the image is clicked). I guess you already changed it.

Yes, thank you. I had forgotten that the captions settings for fullsize photos are under the popup menu. Issue resolved.
