Correct Imageorientation

22 Sep 2020, 06:01

Hi,

i saved my Pictures from my iPhone and save it on my Networkshare. In Fileexplorer everything looks fine - now i upload some thousands images, but many of them now have an wrong imageorientation.

In your Blog i see, there was changing at the Imageorientation Feature.
How can i correct them, without edit some thousands Images and upload the new?!?

Thanks for your help.

The EXIF orientation issue is so complex that I need the following to be able to diagnose:
  • Link to at least one image with incorrect orientation.
  • Did you upload the images from FTP or from the X3 uploader?
  • Are they oriented wrong in the gallery layout? Or the popup? Or both?

Ok, i found a tool to correct the orientation and upload the images new, now the orientation is (in most cases) correct. But some Folderpreviews are wrong in the orientation - but in the folder they are correct.

Upload via FTP.

Ok. If you want me to diagnose, I would need a link. It could be the incorrect folder previews are from CACHE.

There are so many complex layers for image orientation. There are preview images, original images, and the fact that some browsers now support EXIF orientation (orientation from the image), but for technical reasons, we can't rely on that.

It's difficult for me to tell exactly what the problem is without diagnosing from a link. It is likely the image resize cache, but could be browser cache, or even both. There is also a tiny chance it is something else.

It doesn't hurt to clear image cache and browser cache, and I'm guessing the issue will be resolved.
