There was/is a solution by a user apparently, but I never tried myself: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=10797

Although there may be a 3rd party solution (I didn't try), there won't be any official search feature in X3. (Likely X4, but please don't ask questions about this yet, as it's miles away).
