Hi,

upgraded from X2 to X3: http://www.light-shadow.net/

I still have not finished every setting yet, finetuning has to be made.

I would be happy to have the possibilty to disable upscaling of images.

Is it possible to click on a top menu to get this: http://www.light-shadow.net/cities/

In slideshow modus it would be nice to have some space between image and the thumbnails
http://www.light-shadow.net/places/Island/NEU2015/

Best regards

Wow nice! Refreshing to see the slidemenu layout in use, combined nicely with Varela font and the green color on a dark background. Very clear website.

You speak of images in the popup window? This will be fixed in a release next week, and upscaling images in popup will be disabled by default.
hr-foto wrote:Is it possible to click on a top menu to get this: http://www.light-shadow.net/cities/
This is a logical limitation when using sidebar/slidemenu, because clicking a parent page in the menu is reserved for open/close the submenu with child pages.

However, there is an alternative solution you might want to consider. In the MENU settings for the parent page "cities", select "hide child pages from menu":
Image
Now the visitor will be forced to visit the "city" category page first, where they can view and click any specific gallery. It also simplifies the menu.

Not currently possible, and this would create some logical challenges. The slideshow is a module, by default set to 100% height. If you want more space, that height would have to be taken from the 100% browser viewport height, reducing the size of the image, and changing the available area aspect. Maybe we can look into this in the future.

Can you please post a separate thread for these questions? This topic is X3 Showcase, and I want to keep it like that.

Nice :)

Just a few suggestions:

1. Considering this is a photography page, your home page seems a bit empty without any photo. How about adding a preview image at the top, above the text, similar as on this page https://demo.photo.gallery/examples/features/post/ ? You would simply need to upload one representative image in your 1.index page, and then go to settings -> context for that page, and add the "preview" tag:
Image

2. It would be refreshing to see a different primary color than the X3-default yellow perhaps?

3. In my opinion, you should choose the narrow layout for your vertical layouts like on this page:
http://www.piotrwarezak.net/captures/nature/
Right now, it's a bit too wide, and on small screens like my 13", the image is too big in a scroll. If the visitor wants to see the bigger image, they can just click it ...

Now, the image is not entirely visible on smaller screens:

Setting a narrow module layout for gallery, making it easier to view the full image:

@hr-foto

Great photos, and nice choice of design and fonts. Some suggestions:

Your "realizations" menu item, if there are only 3 subitems, why not use the CAROUSEL menu layout? The LIST menu layout is meant for pages with 2 levels of subfolders below it:
Image
Better change to CAROUSEL:
Image

Your main MENU is a bit bug/long. You should make it as simple and comprehensive as possible for the visitor. Do you need this page in the main menu? http://www.studiodesigner.it/NormativaCookie/ ... Nobody really cares about "cookies" anyway, and nobody wants to read about it. You already have a cookie-plugin anyway!

Do you NEED the "home" link? A visitor will normally click the LOGO to get to the home page ... Anything that can make your menu EASIER to view. To hide the home link, you can rename "1.index" to "index".

Some of your pages could do with a PREVIEW image, for example http://www.studiodesigner.it/Presentation/. A preview image in the context would look something like this:
Image
Simply upload an image to the page, and add the [preview] tag to context:
Image

Re-SORT your menu? In addition to minifying the first level of your main menu, you may want to change the order. For example, "contact" should normally be last, while all the main content links should be first.

Maybe change this:

It looks great ... Your photos make it stand out, and nice choice of dark theme with simple, clean fonts.

Shouldn't you be using Columns- or Justified layout to avoid gaps in your gallery layouts containing images of different aspects?

Wondering if there's another way I could improve the design, colour, font and layout for my X3 installation. :)

Almost perfect, of course thanks to great photos and content. I like how you have kept the main menu nice and compact, without unnecessary dropdowns ... The child-pages are available directly from the main category pages anyway.

If I was to suggest some minor adjustments, I would perhaps go for a "narrow" layout-width for pages "about" and "contact", and perhaps switch the columns on the contact page. It would look something like this:
Image
Image

Also, do you really need the "home" button in the main menu? Most visitors will click the logo if they want to get back to the home page. The more you can shave off the menu, the more intuitive it becomes.

You have recently upgraded from an earlier beta version? It seems you may be missing the folder /content/custom/favicon/. Check the download X3 zip, and make sure this folder is in you content/custom/ folder. It contains the favicon, which you can customize.

Lastly, I noticed your website works for both http://larryanda.com.au AND http://www.larryanda.com.au. It is recommended that you choose one to use (and promote), and redirect one to the other. From the perspective of the internet (google, seo, etc), it considers them two separate websites, and you will have issues with "canonical" links, since you basically have two links for each page.
