Uploaded jpg file background color turns red.

04 Jun 2017, 21:54

Good Morning, Good Day or Good Evening Karl.
The topic pretty much sums it up.
I tried finding a forum on this issue and could not find anything.
I uploaded 2 jpg files and the white background turned red.
I tried it with several sizes of the images & also played with the quality settings on the drop box.
Same results. They are in "Advertising", "Documents".....
You have my panel info.
Thak you for your help......

Additionally, When you go to the images in the album and click on them they enlarge without the red.

Do you have a link to the image? Do the original images even look the same across different browsers?

This is related to a special "color profile" you have added to your images. Images should always be saved in sRGB profile ... Read why that is recommended here:

A few additional notes to this post:
  • What you are experiencing, is that your uploaded image(s) have a specific color profile assigned, perhaps from your Lightroom or Photoshop. Color profiles are stored in your images EXIF/IPTC metadata. When X3 resizes images, metadata is not transferred, basically to make sure the image is minimal file size and generally because it is a recommended approach. This could lead to the resized image looking different than the original image.
  • We will look into an option in next release, where you can set resized images to inherit EXIF and IPTC data from the original image.
  • Just because we will offer this option, does not mean it is necessarily recommended. X3 only requires EXIf/IPTC in the original image to use this data for captions/EXIF display settings, and it will slightly increase the file-size of resized images. Besides, browsers have different ways of interpreting custom color profiles, and some simply don't support them [ref].
  • As pointed out by leading publications on the matter, "always convert your images to sRGB before publish to the web", even if you also embed a specific color profile ref1 ref2 ref3 ref4 ref5.

As you asked me to check, it was only on Google Chrome. All 5 other browsers I test with were fine. What is even more strange, it cured itself. They are no longer Red.......
