Hey Karl...

I am seeing a couple of 404 errors when crawling my site www.merelyafleshwound.com

Here are the instances :

From: http://www.merelyafleshwound.com/mounta ... tle-peak//
To: http://www.merelyafleshwound.com/mounta ... dral-peak/

From: http://www.merelyafleshwound.com/mounta ... tle-peak//
To: http://www.merelyafleshwound.com/mounta ... itol-peak/

Any idea why this is happening?  In the past it had something to do with a caps in the file extentions (*.JPG)

The issue is clearly related to the DOUBLE-slash // ending in the origin URL. The question is, where do you get the origin links from with those double slashes? They are not linked like this from the X3 menu or anywhere else ... I can't exclude the chance that these links remain in your crawlers index from some earlier version, but I can't see they exist now. The menu clearly links to urls ending in single slash/. It could even be some links incorrectly shared somewhere with double-slashes.

Unless you can find out how any visitor could end up seeing http://www.merelyafleshwound.com/mounta ... tle-peak// (double slash at end) instead of http://www.merelyafleshwound.com/mounta ... stle-peak/ (single slash at end), then this is not an issue caused by X3, and certainly has no harm.

Although there should not be any circumstances where your links should be accessed by mywebsite.com/folder// (<-- double slash// ending), this issue has now been resolved in X3 0.22:

The 404 errors have been resolved with the new release!

However I am now seeing two new 301 redirects errors that I can not figure out.

First:
From: http://www.merelyafleshwound.com/mounta ... /svalbard/
To: http://www.merelyafleshwound.com/mounta ... /peak-log/

Second:
From: http://merelyafleshwound.com/mountaineering/svalbard/
To: http://merelyafleshwound.com/mountaineering/peak-log/

What exactly do you mean "301 redirects errors"? If I open or click the link http://merelyafleshwound.com/mountaineering/svalbard/, it does not redirect at all. If it did, I don't see how that would be an "error" anyway since it must have been a redirect meant to be on purpose.

I assume you mean "Google Webmaster" reports this? Please don't trust Google webmaster for everything. I use Google webmaster myself (sometimes), but it reports lots of junk that doesn't make sense. Of all Google "products", this seems to be the least functional tool. Besides, how can it possibly report that the SAME link is redirecting two different locations? Even when it doesn't redirect at all. Google tools just doesn't work for everything, and obviously this is a FALSE report, OR it is reporting something from BEFORE. Google webmaster doesn't check your website each time you load the interface.

Checked the page on PINGDOM, and it reports fine, no redirects no nothing:

Facebook Debugger:

Everything working as it should.

On a side note, I see you are running BOTH www- and non-www versions of your website, which technically speaking makes TWO duplicate websites. You should read my post here:

thanks Karl...

I am not using Webmaster for this... I am using Screaming Frog SEO Spider to crawl my site.

Then you need to contact support at seo-spider if you care about what this tool reports. It is pretty obvious that this page is NOT being redirected.
