"Hide child pages from menu" only on mobile

12 Feb 2016, 10:46

Hello Karl,

I have a blog page like yours https://mjau-mjau.com/blog/ with a carousel too.

As you (I guess) each post in the blog is an individual folder. I have 22 folders (=22 blog posts)

On the desktop version, I can access the blog through the blog page https://mjau-mjau.com/blog/ or through the carousel. No problem.

But on mobile when I want to access the blog page it doesn't open https://mjau-mjau.com/blog/ instead it opens the sub-menu with all the blog posts (22 in my case).

The only solution is to "hide child pages from menu" but in this case I can't use any more the carousel on the desktop version :-(

Do you think it's possible in a future release to add a new function "Hide child pages from menu only for mobile ?
Or do you have another solution to keep the carousel on desktop and have a clean menu on mobile ?

Thanks

This has been requested earlier, and I think it could be a useful feature. I will look into adding it to a new release scheduled for next week.

And when on mobile the child pages are hidden, it would be nice if the folder in which the child pages have their place could be shown.

Well, this would be the natural result of hiding child-pages on mobile ... The visitor would be forced to click the parent page from the menu, where they would see an overview of child-pages.

"Hide child pages from MOBILE menu" setting is now added to page->settings->menu. This feature will be available in new v 0.16 to be released next week.

Use this setting to specifically hide this page's child pages (subfolders) from displaying in the MOBILE slidemenu. The mobile slidemenu displays on mobile- and touch devices, instead of the topbar- and sidebar menu's which display on larger screens. This feature can be useful if you want the mobile visitor to click the category page link to view child pages, instead of accessing them directly from the menu.

* Unlike the topbar-menu, the slidemenu does not allow opening links that have child-pages, because the click-event is reserved for toggling display of child-items. This setting is therefore a compromise alternative to solve this logically.

* If you are already using "Hide Child Pages from menu", this setting has no further effect.
