Is it possible for you to have a feature to sort in ascending or descending order?

I would like to see my latest entry on the top left hand of the screen.... unless there is a setting that I have missed to read from the documentation

In this question, are you referring to the control panel (as in the screenshot), or sorting in the frontend? The [sort] option in the panel is only for convenience of how to view the items in the panel ...

For the frontend, try to add sort:asc or sort:desc into the blog page folders setting (in addition to other settings you have there):
