Links from the Menu

25 Nov 2014, 10:41

Hi Karl...

Per your post in the X3 Help forum I am adding this feature request here:

Please add the ability to the main menu (mega menu etc.) open links for the following in a new tab.

1. HTML files (with JS)
2. PDF files
3. External Sites

For assets such as HTML & pdf it would be nice to also have the ability for them to open on the site like a gallery would.

Please let me know if you need more clarification on this request.

Thanks
Alex

Tricky business ... First of all, if you load the html into the page, your html would inherit all styles from X2 which could easily break it, or your html could easily break the X3 layout. We could load it into an iframe, but that would normally look ugly as it would come with a scrollbar and styles wont match. For PDF, not all browsers are capable of opening a PDF inside the browser, which would result in a semi-broken page after download is prompted. Also, don't you think its much more functional to view the PDF in a new window with full scrollbar? If we are going to load the PDF "into" the page, we would need to load it into an iframe, and the iframe would need to have a set height, so you would basically be scrolling the PDF from within a box within the website.
