I believe this would be related to another issue you have:

Warning: getimagesize(./content/1.index/thumb.jpg): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /kunden/272447_22523/webseiten/gallery/extensions/twig.imagevue.inc.php on line 189

It's just a notice, but I think it is corrupting the JSON preload data. I will try to fix for an update tonight.

Unless you fixed the issue by populating the default image, you can download latest hotfix release here:
