Open HTML in New Tab

06 Dec 2014, 17:18

I have an HTML file in a folder called assest/colorado-centennials/

I would like to have a mega menu item to open it in a new tab. The behavior would be much like how opening links in X2 worked.

For an example of what I mean please reference test.merelyafleshound.com and open Mountaineering.Colorado Centennial Peaks

Thanks

Hmm, there would be a few ways to add such a feature ...

The obvious way, would be to do it like in X2, by creating a new "page" but with a link setting so that the page acts as a link. I think this option is necessary, although in your case it seems excessive to have to create new folders for each link ...

I could perhaps add an option to auto-read html-files within a folder into the menu-structure under folder where they exist. For example if you had assest/colorado-centennials/file-name.html, it would create a menu item "File Name" under section "Colorado Centennials". Drawback would be that you can't control the sorting of these items inside their parent ... they would just get listed after the actual physical folders.

A third solution, would be to build a JS plugin similar to the one you have for banners ... But although it would be efficient to configure, it seems like a bit of a "hack" and also prone to mistakes by config.

I would like to add this feature in next release.

I would say go with what is intuitive for users... and the most straight forward for you. I have less than a dozen links I would like to use across my entire site. So setting up a page for each link is no big deal... and a frame work that everyone that used X2 is familiar with.

Stoked to have this functionality.

I also really like the iterative and interactive approach to evolving X3... very happy with everything so far.
