Imagine dimensions

03 Mar 2025, 08:45

Hi,
I'm looking for the needed image dimensions for images put in the "Index" folder.
So basically the "cover photos" which you can see by default when the gallery is loaded.

Thanks!

Just for reference, before I answer the question. The "index" page is really just a normal page like any other. But in the default release, we have assigned the gallery as slideshow "intro", because this seems like a good idea for many photo-related websites.

As for image dimensions, there is no precise answer. If you want high-quality images displayed, you should aim for image dimensions (width) that cover modern large desktop displays. In this case, 2-3000 px width should be more than sufficient. Keep in mind, if you are using dimensions > 2000 px, you need to make sure to use sufficient JPG compression so that images remain at reasonable file sizes ... In most cases, the images will scale down in browser anyway to fit the screen, in which case JPG compression artifacts are increasing difficult to notice with the naked eye. Personally, I would perhaps choose 2400 px wide images for "best" quality visuals. In the demo/default, I believe we use 1600 px, which is also acceptable.

Hope this answers your question.
