strange gallery behaviour
in some dozens of galleries there is just one that resists all and every effort to change setting > gallery > captions, again and again. how can that be, what does it block from changing? I do not get it ...

Could be many reasons. First of all, do you have a link?
Also, does it change at all? Does it even show captions? Are you sure it's a gallery and not folders overview? Hard to answer or diagnose without full context.

I blocked the gallery from view now, but whenever I delete „preview“ here and unclick caption hover (which I did on the same site a dozen times before at other galleries) and click save both settings reappear.

You can't delete all caption items including "preview". The point of this section, is to assign items and order, like [title][description][preview] or [preview][title]. If you remove all items there, there would be nothing to display, not even the preview image. What is it that you are trying to achieve? If you tried to do this, it would change back to your page default, which most likely is "preview" item only.ed_f wrote: but whenever I delete „preview“
Apart from the above, if you are still having problems, I would need access to diagnose, as I can't say what's wrong simply from a screenshot. It does seem like there might be a logical issue somewhere.

ok, that makes sense and I never really understood what sense it makes to delete a preview in a gallery ;-)
but nevertheless: in that specific gallery unclicking „caption overlay“ results in the panel scrolling back to top and the settings remain the same: I cannot get rid of „title“; neither can anything else be set nor all deleted. something forces it to stay there, what can it be? other galleries are as desired, take länder > deutschland > calbe.
btw: the main issue we had before is luckily and finally all set now as it once was - thanks!
