I am not quite sure what you mean ... Vertical images always expand to the width of the gallery module where they are embedded, and obviously the height remains proportional to the width. You can choose several widths for the gallery module, which basically decide how large images in the vertical layout are:

The maximum size is obviously "wide", which means they will scale to 100% of browser width, which differs per device naturally. This is not a good setting for vertical though, as it means it's not possible to view the entire image without scrolling. Best setting is often "narrow".
