I think you should lower the background opacity of the layer.
In my opinion you´ve set the background opacity to zero and it schould be around 0.8 or 0.9

First of all, why have you set the popup background to 0.1? That is why you see the stuff in the background ... Default is 0.95 ...

I wonder why you changed it to 0.1 in the first place ...

So yes, images always open in the X3 popup window, which is a brilliant way for the user to navigate images without leaving the page ... If you set the opacity MUCH higher, it should look nice again. I am not sure what you mean "open in a new window" ... That would not be functional.
