change opacity of the slideshow/gallery?

18 Mar 2016, 22:28

Hi
is it possible to change opacity of the slideshow/gallery?
default opacity is perfect if the layout has a dark background, but with lighter bg's doesnt go well because of the contrast makes it unpleasant in my opinion.
Thanks

You mean like you already did here?

Else, I don't quite understand what you mean. Default opacity for a gallery is always 1 (non-transparent) from X3 ... This is after all your images. It's not really a good idea to change "opacity" of your gallery, no matter what gallery module you are using. It changes the integrity of your images ... they will look lighter or darker depending on the background behind them, and likely lose some quality. Also, for the browser to render semi-transparent images, it requires more memory and processing power (nothing you would notice).

Hi Karl,
I was referring to the background when you actually see images on fullscreen.

The default opacity I guess is approximately 94% when I would like to try 60%.

please check the example images below:

X3 default:

decreased dark opacity:
https://d.pr/i/OYo1

white opacity:
https://d.pr/i/13541

* using brighter opacity (starting from white instead of black would more appropriate specially on layouts with brighter BG's)

This would improve usability of X3

same principle is referred here for text:
You should avoid using white text on a dark background when displaying paragraph text to make it easier from them to read. Forcing users to fixate on the white text for a long time can strain the user’s eyes. This is because white stimulates all three types of color sensitive visual receptors in the human eye in nearly equal amounts.
btw, the default opacity works fine, but if could custom the opacity % would be even better!

Regards
RC

That is the X3 popup, and you can already change opacity for the background in settings -> popup -> background opacity:
