Actually, the "404 not found" is specifically for the demo assets folder. If you navigate to this folder by FTP, and change the file name
404.json to
page.json, it becomes a page that can be setup normally like any other page. At least this solves the issue so that the close button can be clicked, and the visitor can view a page that contains the image. However, as you have understood, the true parent of an image-page, will always have to be the folder which physically contains the image.
I haven't tried it yet, but you could perhaps make a link of the assets-folder, so that it points to another page when accessed. It might have to do a redirect/reload, but it could be a solution.
I will change the demo assets page to a normal layout (not 404), as I can see that was counter-intuitive.
