how about multi column menu in horizontal menu?

of course! no problem at all. In fact I only posted them for your evaluation past which they served no purpose. And I know Imagevue is above and beyond wordpress when it comes to Photography which is why I use this.

ps: on a side note, what do you think about the idea of adding some 'filters' or effects that make the image look Black n white normally, but turn into color when the mouse is placed on it?
Thanks.

As a photographer, I would never do this... a photo is black&white OR color.
Thumbnails should be clear about this..

i understand, and i know it can get annoying too if there are tons of thumbnails changing colors, however, i was just hinting at the main landing page with a grid of a few big pics (with this effect) and which when clicked lead to inner pages with many images (normal pics with no effects).

Either way, if it looks fine, then it is fine.
Thanks.

How would it work though? level 1 items in the main horizontal bar, and then level 3 items in columns below level 2 headers? The menu would need specifically 3 levels, neither more or less, to work properly with a columns menu ... Certainly possible to add an option for this sooner or later! ... At this point though, we gotta focus on "wholesome" menu solutions, and then stuff like this can come later ...

I think this is a cool idea, which could be applied in certain subsections or for certain artistic websites. It wouldn't be a mainstream function, but it is super-simple to add to X3 anyway, since image "grayscale" can be applied with CSS3 filters in modern browsers. It would be a tag you can apply to any folder/gallery settings, for example "hover-bw". We can also add a range of other optional hover FX, like "hover-blur" and "hover-sepia". They do not work in all browsers, but since its a progressive enhancement, thats ok ...

Working to get something "releasable", and I might be able to get some eager followers of this X3 post started earlier, with some hands-on support from myself.

Having said that, I got 1 week "holiday" coming up next week, so progress might be a bit slow now until mid-July ... I should have a sidebar-teaser out before that though, and shortly after, I hope to showcase a new site made in X3.

Hi, I'm very eager to see the new version coming online, in final or pre-release.
Returning frequently to this forum to see if any good news is already there (of course beside the good progress of X3).

For now have a nice holiday and strengthen up for the final steps of the X3 progress ;)

Regards,
Raymond

I'm excited for a new version!

I got Imagevue due to me wanting a really good gallery for my photos etc.
That's when I had an DSLR camera.. I sold it a couple years and I've missed it so much.
In only 10 days I will be buying a Canon 700D so I can start taking photos again.

So happy.

A couple of questions:

1. Will the "View on Map" functionality be available in X3
2. Will Photo Descriptions, Titles, Folder Images etc. we currently have in X2 be carried over to X3

Thanks

Yes, but probably not with initial launch ...

Images and folders, yes. Titles and descriptions, no ... we will offer a "converter" tool, but I cannot say this will be available with initial launch.

thanks Karl. How about the Social Media integrations like FB & Twitter? Will they be included in X3?

Just a short heads-up ... I have been hard at work with main layout variations, as well as making the static parts of the website (header, logo, sidebar, footer etc) easily customizable. Also created an improved footer, fixed sidebar layout variation, and now a new topbar+menu ... I found that the header/menu currently used at mjau-mjau.com was not flexible enough, too spacious, and generally inappropriate for a general gallery application experience ... This was a tremendously complicated task, since we have to cater for all variations of fonts, menus, devices, skins and logos to fit within multiple layout variations. It required digging deep into lots of interrelated code, so I need to get through this entire fix before I can launch an update shortly!

Thanks for patience, stay tuned ...

Undoubtedly, but we did not get around to focus on this yet ... I want to work from the inside and out, and I want things to work well before we clutter layout with bells and whistles. I assume you are primarily referring to sharing of images, galleries and pages from social buttons added to pages/images?

I am working on some cool "mega-menu" stuff, eg. drop-down menus that show extended category content like thumbnails, carousels, multiple levels and previews directly in the menu. It is quite challenge, especially when I need to predict what kinda content structure/depth most of you like to work with ...

So perhaps some of you can let me know about your structure depth? Some basic portfolios may only use a single level, for example "PortfolioA PortfolioB About Contact" with no sub folders in the portfolios. Many of you will likely prefer 2 levels of folders, with galleries below main category folders. Some of you who have a lot of content may also prefer 3 levels of depth, for example "Portfolio -> Black&White -> Forest" ... Heck, some of you may even wish to use 4 levels of depth, although generally that would not be recommended for a number of reasons. This becomes a challenge when creating these extensive "mega menus" (stupid name I know but I couldn't immediately think of a better name). Feedback about your preferred depth level would be appreciated!

Just to emphasize what I am talking of here, let me refer to some decent examples -

In this shot from http://www.sony.co.uk/, we see a few images in the menu ... This could for example be a carousel of galleries in the hovered category, or even all sub categories with smaller thumbnails.

Hi Karl...

Thanks for asking about this! I have a fairly deep menu structure on www.merelyafleshwound.com . In the Kayaking section there are 4 levels.... with the 3rd level containing a number of For example.... Kayaking.Colorado Arkanasas River.Clear Creek. The Clear Creek folder contains images. In addition... the Cycling section is 3 levels deep.

Please let me know if I can provide additional help or insight.

Thanks
Alex
