Installation instructions seem a bit off...

Okay, was really excited about the product and the excellent support I saw from afar. Took the plunge, got access and the first thing I wondered was "do I download X2 only or the previous version as well? Well? After reading it's still not clear. So, I downloaded both and proceeded to just try the X2 only approach 1st. Apparently, this is inconclusive as well. The instructions don't match the zip file contents.

It says the following...

1. Download and unpack imagevuex2.zip
Download the imagevuex2.zip file from the imagevue downloads section to your computer and unzip/unpack the content. You should see a single folder "imagevue X2 YYYYMMDD" indicating the release date of the version.

... this file naming convention is not used. Furthermore, if I proceed with the next step anyway, (unzipping on my computer) it complains that files already exist blah blah.

Is there a definitive installation guide for the latest release?

--Thanks.

Solved by trying...

Unzipping on the PC wasn't the answer. The answer that worked was...

After downloading imagevuex2.zip to your computer, upload it directly to your server. Unzip and set file permissions first before proceeding further. Then go ahead with step 3 and the rest of the test/procedures.

-Thanks.

Not sure what the problem is. We have a quickstart guide here:

It is used. You have an imagevuex2.zip folder, and inside the zip there is a single folder "imagevue x2 20090503"(current release date). If you see anything else, I suspect you have some wrong settings in your zip unpacker program, which doesn't keep the structure of the folders in the ZIP file. Instead it tries to unpack all files onto the same level.

I wouldn't recommend doing that, but for those who know how to unpack zip files directly on their server, that is an option.

You don't need Imagevue V1 to use Imagevue X2. They are separate programs!

Strange...

I have never had a problem before. I use 7Zip. This is what is in the zip file.

typ name size
-------------------------------------
dir content 1275k
dir imagevue 3489k
dir __MACOSX 537b
embedDemo.html 1783b
imagevue.php 642b
index.php 38b
index_example.html 2009b
README.txt 80b

Would you kindly verify/comment on this. I'm having further problems.
Thanks.

I see the same files in the zip file.

Akhem.. Sorry, this is my bad. While adding some latest fixes, accidently re-packed archive without release date and MACOSX dir got into. I did upload again right now though.

Anyway, in this case you just upload whole .zip content onto your site in the directory of choiÑÂ

Thanks. At least I feel better knowing I am not crazy.

So, should I reinstall with the latest?

Just don't upload MACOSX directory, that's all.

Download the latest version (I assume you did that already)

Don't unzip/unpack on your computer.

Upload directly to the server and unpack there and proceed with the instructions.

Not sure how you can upload first and then unpack. Just unpack to some temp directory and upload everything you've just unpacked.

It was easy...

unzipped it on the server directly.

ok, upload and extract made with php request. Anyway, still not a date on the imagevue folder, but my real problem came from my provider (free). With ovh it seems good.

In the x2.zip file, there is a single folder "imagevue x2 20090503". If you can't see this folder, it means your ZIP unpacker program is set to disregard internal structure of the ZIP file. This is a common mistake.
