Seperate Fullscreen Background

Hi,
I have my gallery set up to have a background image which gives the appearance of the gallery being semi transparent. This works great when the gallery is not fullscreen but as soon as I switch to fullscreen the image is still there, sitting at the top left of the screen and just looks odd.
I was hoping there was a way to change or remove the background gif when the user switches to fullscreen, I have had a look around but found no way to do it since I'm not overly great with php.
