Javascript Error with Admin Mode

18 Mar 2009, 09:50

Fresh install, the uploaded content is in the folder directly to the root of my website so it will show as the front page, I set all the permissions listed in this guide: https://www.photo.gallery/v2docs/quickstart/, and now all I am getting when I go to the www.example.com/imagevue to try to log into the admin page, is this:
"Oops! - This page requires javascript -

Please enable javascript in your browser and reload page.
» Flash gallery

Optionally, you can view the HTML gallery page instead:
» HTML gallery

Gallery software by:
»
www.photo.gallery - flash photo gallery and slideshow"

Before I had changed the permissions, I was actually able to the proper log in screen. I just couldn't log in because I was unsure if I was supposed to use the username and password emailed to me or my own website username and password, then I realised I didn't change the permissions and maybe that was why it wasn't letting me log in. I am bad with technology, so a step-by-step explanation would be really appreciated. It's really frustrating!

Thanks for anyone's help!

[EDIT] Just to note- I reset all of the permissions back to the original 0755 and the login page loads again.

Not sure what's going on, you dont see anything probably because swfobject or imagevue2.swf can't be loaded... Do you have a link to your gallery?

I don't know what happened, but I have managed to set the correct permissions listed on this site https://www.photo.gallery/v2docs/quickstart/ and now everything works fine, no issues with logging in, not getting the weird Javascript messages anymore.

I guess for in the future, if anyone had the problem I had, the work around is to set all the permissions listed on that site to the default 0755 and then just log in and change your password. After that, I believe you can set the permissions to 0777 and everything will be fine. I checked my website in between setting every permission to ensure I knew which one caused a problem if it was going to.

Just an odd little issue, but I am glad it got resolved! As a friend put it, when it comes to websites, just keep tinkering around with it and generally it will eventually starts to work!

Hehe, ofcourse 777 is bit overkill, 666 or something should be enough, or depending on server configuration, you might be lucky and it will just work.
