Am just another novice user... but my first guess
would be, have you checked your 'permissions' for
your site folders?

You will have to set imagefolder permissions. See further instructions here: https://www.photo.gallery/37.
After you have set permissions and created descriptions, you will most likely have to enable descriptions in the config.ini file also.
